Rooms may not be available until 3:00 p.m. but we can accommodate your luggage if you arrive before this time. We want to know your approximate arrival time so we can be home to greet you and check you in. In certain instances, especially late at night, we can arrange to leave you an access code for the front entrance and your room key in a secure location. If your arrival time changes due to weather or other delays, please keep us updated so we can arrange a quick and stress-free check-in.
Our check out time is 11:00 a.m. so that we can prepare our rooms for arriving guests. However, do not feel pressured to leave. You are welcome to enjoy the public areas of our house. Arrangements can be made to store luggage until you leave or to be picked up later in the day.
Guest rooms located on the second floor are accessible by a staircase and the main entrance also has a staircase. The historical value of these rooms and stairways has not been disturbed. Wheelchair entrance requires special arrangement to set up a ramp. Many door widths throughout the house are 30-32 inches. We are working toward increasing the accessibility of the Zybell House, but in the short-term, we try to accommodate our guests’ special needs to the best of our ability. If you would like to talk more about this, please contact the Innkeeper at 217-898-5401.
If you would like to have an additional guest join you for breakfast during your stay, there is an additional charge of $10 per person. Please provide at least 12 hours’ notice for additional guests.
The Zybell House was designed with kids in mind – and it’s been tested by our three-year-old! We want them to enjoy their stay, but we need them to be safe. We reserve the right to inform you and your children if their behavior is dangerous or inappropriate and to bodily remove children from danger if urgently necessary (we might pick up your toddler and carry him to you if he is found climbing on the table, as mine has done).
During the major events at the University of Illinois and many major holidays, there may be a two-night minimum stay required. Refer to the list of peak dates for additional clarification.
Missing keys are a security issue. There is a $50 fine for any set of missing keys.
